Learn to Paint Ukrainian Easter Eggs (Pysanky)
March 12, 2023
l:00 to 4:00
BOOK NOW

In this workshop you will learn to paint beautiful Ukrainian Easter eggs. You will learn about this Ukrainian tradition and perhaps start a new Easter tradition of your own.
A Pysanka is a colorful Ukrainian Easter egg decorated with traditional Ukrainian folk designs using a batik or wax resist method. Designs are not painted onto the egg but rather "written" or inscribed with a stylus on a bees-wax covered egg dipped into dye. You will decorate an egg during this workshop and take home a kit and instructions for decorating more eggs. This is a fun, relaxing, and meditative craft.
Workshop participants will learn about the tradition of pysanka and will be led through the egg waxing and dying process with emphasis on proper technique but with room for fun and creativity. No experience is necessary. Writing tool, wax, and dyes are included. An additional supply list will be provided. This workshop is limited to 12 people (age 13 and above).
If you took the class last year and still have your kit, join us for advanced lessons at a reduced rate.
